PROJECT 1: Contestant status:FAILED

SUMMARY

The sun rose with such grace and beauty it would make a doped up angel cry. The birds and the early morning traffic sang a duet of hope and happiness as the contestant, fully rejuvenated and awake, rubbed his eyes open, ready to face the next 72 hours of Halo 3...

NOT!

The equipment wouldn't work, the tape for the high quality camera hadn't arrived on time, and the contestant had woken up way earlier than any sane person would and was, as people usually are in this situation, already tired by lunch.

Oh right, and we only had forty or so viewers during the first hour.

But things changed for the better. The technical problems were solved and the contestant was in high spirits, slowly gnawing away at the legendary 72 hours of alien devastation. Between the other people in the room commentating and the fifty plus viewers fully enjoying themselves things were looking up. But the best was yet to come...

As the first 24 hours came to a close WouldYou72 hit the front page of Digg. Instantaneously the number of viewers jumped from fifty to eight-hundred and like the hyper excited Digg users that they were they started chatting up a storm. Text was flying up off the screen so fast that it looked very similar to the Matrix loading screen and if it had a sound effect it would be "ZOOOOOOMPSHHHHPUTSHOEONHEAD!".

From there on we were absolutely golden. 600-800 viewers at all times with a peak of 1200 and constant chatter in the chat room. Surprisingly enough a few of the viewers ordered the contestant and co. pizza on more than one occasion. Not just one or two pizzas but enough to feed the four or five people that seemed to be on camera at most times.
